The Henry Pippitt Diaries

Isn’t this cool? At the University of Tennessee, in their Special Collections Department, librarians and archivists are scanning the  Civil War diaries of Henry Pippitt, a Union soldier from the 104th Ohio infantry. The diary covers from 1862-1865. You can look at each page, his curly old handwriting, and his day to day life in the war. Maybe he talks about a cute girl he likes, or maybe there is some juicy gossip.

Here’s a link to the diaries. I had such a hard time spelling that word.

Thanks librarians for being so cool
